ZEN-ON Shakuhachi KOCHIKU

After years of research, ZEN-ON succeeded in manufacturing this fine quality shakuhachi, a Japanese traditional musical instrument, made of selected maple wood instead of conventional bamboo.The use of wood makes it possible to get the most acoustically ideal bore without being subject to the shape of natural material, bamboo. Supreme technical skill for wooden instruments such as recorders brings this fine "Kochiku" shakuhachi with a rich tone and superb balance in all registers. These "Kochiku" shakuhachi carry the guarantee of well-known shakuhachi players Katsuya Yokoyama and Hozan Yamamoto of two big schools, Kinko-Ryu and Tozan-Ryu.

* Kinko Ryu Katsuya Yokoyama is one of the top shakuhachi players in Japan . Not only playing traditional shakuhachi music as the best Kinko-school (the largest school in shakuhachi playing) player, he is enthusiastic in expanding his repertoire by commissioning and performing new compositions by Japanese contemporary composers. For the last twenty years, he has been traveling all over the world and has been known internationally. * Tozan-Ryu Hozan Yamamoto is the best shakuhachi player in Tozan-school (the second largest school to Kinko-school). He is also interested in playing contemporary works including those pop oriented music. He himself composes many new shakuhachi music, some of which are included in the catalogue of ZEN-ON music publications.
